As you push the tip through the hole, be sure that they can see what you are doing.

Demonstrate and say at the same time:

"Take the lacing tip and push it through the next hole.Pull it tight.Push the tip through the next hole.Pull it tight.Don't skip any holes.Now you do it."

Release the lacing and let it fall in front of the tool.

  • If they cannot hold the tool, hold it for them.
  • If they cannot pinch the lacing, see if they can hold a large crayon and evaluate coloring.
