Their speed of getting new information is very slow and in competitive employment situations most supervisors regard them as more trouble than they are worth. Encouraging them to seek employment is often a set up for failure. False hope is often unkind. If you do this, you are ethically obligated to do follow ups two weeks and two months after they start working. You should hold yourself accountable for the possibility of setting people up for failure.

Many people functioning within ACL 4.8 are able to read and follow schedules and checklists without additional reminders. Daily planners may be helpful.

If they will attempt to read simple instructions, they usually follow them, one step at a time. They may skip portions and often request frequent verification. They may draw on their memory for a list of information related to the activity.

When uncertain, they usually seek verification of the correct action sequence by asking others or rechecking written directions.
