All of the movements that enter the scale in ACL 4.6 continue with about the same quality of performance. A few finer details may capture their attention in identified projects such as stickers. We learn from experience with each new set of stickers.

Errors are usually detected when they rotate the object after they have considered the project done. Under those conditions the error is usually accepted, even when a demonstration of how to fix it is offered. What is done is done, seems to guide their thinking.

A library is a good location to test reading comprehension for titles, authors, books they have read, types of reading materials they enjoy. Texting on a smart phone can also be used to identify their ability to spontaneously compile words to form sentences beyond routine phrases. Types of games or reading material enjoyed will give you an insight into what classes of information reaffirms their sense of identity.

Time

The person is aware of the passage of minutes and may use an internal clock to judge about 15 minutes.

In ACL 4.8, the person is able to match using information held within their working memory until they are done. They continue to refer to the sample until the activity is complete. The person may read information and follow a checklist.

The ability to sustain their attention is dependent on the complexity of the task. If the task is a simple goal-directed action, they can sustain their attention for up to 90 minutes. Retaining of a more complex image results in a reduced attention span of around 15 minutes with mistakes being made.

While their work pace is within slow normal limits, they cannot hurry up. When their internal clock tells them that they will not have enough time, they usually request more time. Obvious conflicts in schedules, such as meals, are not often considered.

Attention is captured by the third dimension, diagonal lines, and written instructions but their efforts to solve visual motor problems are apt to leave errors. Mistakes are avoided by slow and methodical checking of their actions and seeking frequent verification. When done, they evaluate their work by comparing it to the sample and their prior experience with similar projects and decide what to do next.

Reading instructions is the big functional change that happens within ACL 4.8.

Self-awareness of the possibility of making a mistake is also a distinguishing characteristic of ACL 4.8. They are able to inhibit their actions and seek assistance before they act. One rarely observes impulsive, uninhibited behavior within ACL 4.8, but it is observed fairly often within ACL 4.6.

With the stitching activity, observe the person's ability to retain an image using directionality as well as difficulty in three-dimensional space. While doing the single cordovan stitch, the person goes from front to back, and front to back again, with the tip to the left at least twice, but the person does not tighten in sequence.

ACL 4.8 displays an awareness of directionality that is absent in ACL 4.6.

Rote learning is a memorization technique. Repetition is a substitute for understanding the reasoning and relationships in the information. The exception to this general rule is the formation of an image which was discovered while watching people copy a design.

The diamond coloring in the ACLS-6 provides an opportunity to observe a person during the process of forming an image within ACL 4.8. There is tedious checking of the sample and coloring a section and checking and coloring and checking and coloring.
