Classification Information

A library is a good location to test reading comprehension for titles, authors, books they have read, types of reading materials they enjoy. Texting on a smart phone can also be used to identify their ability to spontaneously compile words to form sentences beyond routine phrases. Types of games or reading material enjoyed will give you an insight into what classes of information reaffirms their sense of identity.

Time

The person is aware of the passage of minutes and may use an internal clock to judge about 15 minutes.

A habit for collecting the supplies they need ahead of time can be established if the set of supplies has little variation.

Space

They are aware of their own work space and claim the same size for large and small projects.

A ruler can be used to measure width and length and they can assume a one to one correspondence between the ruler and the measurement on another object. 90-degree angles are assumed but larger or smaller angles are apt to cause confusion.

With the grids on the notecards, they can layer a stamp or a sticker over the grid.

Scanning

Scanning the environment becomes more persistent. They have a better ability to find their way around their community. They can learn a new route with practice.

Sense of Self

When selecting prescriptive activities, an activity history helps fit the activity to the person. The choice of which activity (work, crafts, paper and pencil) is up to the person and not your personal biases.

Other People

Awareness of people in the vicinity engaged in similar projects is limited to their physical presence, but they are usually not aware of their personal priorities or their time constraints.

Social Rank

Orders from respected authoritative figures are obeyed especially when they are written clearly in a checklist format. Changes in their usual routines however is hard for them to take. Keep reminders for new instructions in clearly visible areas.

Material Objects

The person is not apt to put supplies away without prompting and clutter accumulates around some of these people unless a supervisor hovers over putting things away. Clutter can and does reach dangerous proportions without assistance.

Samples & Errors

The person will probably adhere to the step in a routine as the only possible way of doing something and resist suggestions that another way would be easier.

The width, length and 90-degree angles of material objects is usually the best measure of distances, which is limited to two-dimensional space. For 3D space, samples are closely examined and slowly assembled around the axis.

A 3D object is often rotated after the person is finished. When errors are found, the person may accept the mistake and reject a demonstration of how to correct the error.

Work activities can include: distributing things like mail and work codes in an established pattern; folding, sorting and stacking material objects; recording information and typing, if typing is a known skill.
