Remembering after the 1st demonstration suggests some learning is possible.

Score

The tentative score is ACL 5.4.

Test the ability to see spatial fit by the spaces in the copying activity - Design D or stencilling activity.

Remembering after the 2nd demonstration suggests some learning may be possible.

Score

The tentative score is ACL 5.2.

Test the ability to see a surface appearances with the peanut butter or stencilling activity.

The directionality problem is solved for one or two stitches but is not remembered.

Score

The tentative score is ACL 5.0.

Verify ability to use a visual pattern in the copying activity - Design C and diamond colouring activity.

Instructions

Requires a demonstration as well as written instructions to follow.

Re-reads the instructions when errors occur and / or may ask for further verbal explanations.

Sample

Looks at the sample briefly and may or may not choose to follow the sample.

When following the sample, they refer to the edge, use of colour, surface properties or spatial arrangements.

When ignoring the sample, they explore different arrangements of the parts of the sample and different colours.

Instructions

Requires a demonstration with verbal instructions and samples to match.

Sample

Uses three or more colours and layers colours but may not blend colours together.

Surface Appearance

Perceives surface appearance to achieve a dry brush effect before they begin stencilling.

Score

The tentative score is ACL 5.2.

Instructions

Requires a demonstration with verbal instructions and samples to match.

Sample

Uses the sample briefly but may not follow it preferring to use their own design as this requires less mental energy.

Neuromuscular Adjustments

Uses neuromuscular adjustment to maintain an up and down tapping action as shown in the demonstration. They spontaneously vary the angle of the brush.

Score

The tentative score is ACL 5.0.

The ability to perceive spatial fit results in consistent spacing of the corner pieces.

Score

The tentative score is ACL 5.4.

The ability to hold an image in long term memory and repeated comparisons with the sample results in the ability to pay attention to subtle differences.

See if the person can see other subtle differences such as dust on surfaces, greasy residue on poorly washed items or slippery shiny surfaces.

Score

More observations are required before assigning a score.

The kite design is completed without constant referral back to the sample. They can place down a few pieces correctly before needing to refer back to the sample.

Score

The tentative score is ACL 5.0.

Reading alone does not provide enough information. They will require verbal instructions for less complex steps. For more complex steps requiring problem solving, they will require a demonstration.

In order to form the correct mental image of what they need to do to arrange the triangles on the fabric and Heat n' Bond materials, they will require a demonstration.

The person can follow a demonstration of cutting a triangle piece using the template, pealing the paper backing on the Heat n' Bond and ironing the pieces into place.
