If familiar with completing the laundry task, the person will be able to carry this out independently. They will avoid overloading the washing machine. They will recognize stains and be able to deal with these using their preferred methods. They can follow verbal and written instructions to use new appliances within reason.

They will remember to complete washing tasks when required within reason and remember when clean clothing supplies are running low.

Within ACL 5 High, the person tries different techniques in order to achieve a better result. When long-term memory is intact secondary consequences makes sense to the person. Abstract concepts which may have secondary consequences may however be neglected. Many appliances due to regulations have warning signs cautioning the dangers due to secondary consequences or unseen forces such as electricity to cover their liabilities.

Within ACL 5 High, having easy access to long-term memory results in the person being able to anticipate and prevent errors which may result in a fall. They are better able to understand risks like climbing up unsteady ladders.

Within ACL 5 High, they pay attention to secondary consequences of surface appearances and spatial fit. They know that shiny surfaces mean slipperiness and will adjust their gait. Within ACL 5.8, they will also know how to maneuver large objects so as to not bump things nor cause damage.

Within ACL 5 High, the person will respond to secondary consequences of tangible properties. They can take a hint and follow verbal directions without a demonstration. They can copy others around them for social etiquettes. They can follow written directions on how to use adaptive aids. They have a more efficient ability to use modified aids to compensate for reduced hand function.

Intangible properties such as calories may be ignored.

Within ACL 5 High, the person is able to use aids requiring adjustments. In ACL 5.6, secondary consequences of surface appearances like keeping the floor dry and not slippery makes sense to the person. In ACL 5.8, secondary consequences of spatial fit like not keeping things precariously balanced or in positions where they can trip over, now makes sense to them. They may still require reminders to avoid errors with abstract concepts like keeping liquids away from electrical appliances.

Within ACL 5 High, they may learn to use adaptive equipment to perform safe and effective bathing with training in precautions. In ACL 5.6, they may prevent harmful effects to surface appearance by wiping up slippery floors. In ACL 5.8, they will extend bath aids to clean back and feet, with standby / minimum assistance to remember safety precautions, attend to unseen surface / spatial properties (e.g., dirt between toes, area on back), and assist with bathing areas that require persistence with tedious adjustments (depending on level of physical disability).
