Affirmative activities are activities that keep the person happily occupied. Within ACL 6, the person can use abstract information in a creative manner to build a positive sense of themselves.
With a physical disability and operating within ACL 6, the person can be expected to use all adaptive equipment independently, anticipate intangible, abstract safety precautions when using adaptive equipment, and enquire about and follow safety precautions. They may effectively direct actions of new caregivers, when physically unable. They may read labels on new products.
Within ACL 6, the person can handle stressful driving conditions such as busy areas and unfamiliar roads as they have quick and accurate decision-making skills.
Within ACL 6, they will learn how to use public transport along with ticketing systems by reading signs and other public information. They may use a cell phone or ask for assistance if unexpected changes occur.
Within ACL 6, the person will be able to learn how to use a new mobile phone using verbal or written instructions. The person considers the needs of others when using the telephone.
They will anticipate future costs of plans for purchasing a new mobile phone.
Within ACL 6, the person plans for long-term financial security for themselves and their dependents. Infrequent major expenses may be planned for and small, incidental fees may be accounted for. They are able to learn new banking procedures easily by following written or verbal instructions. They may adhere to budgets, understand secondary effects related to money management such as the cost differences between cash and credit purchase, and the consequences of overdrafts. Priorities set for expenditures may be spontaneously considered including the needs of others.
Within ACL 6, the person can manage their medication independently. The person pays attention to abstract concepts such as medication side effects when they are explained to the person. Secondary consequences from poor compliance to medication may be heeded.
