Referring to the Sample

Copying is confounded by counting and matching one tile at a time.

Images are used to make comparisons between the sample and their copy, seen as looking back and forth.

Count the number of times the person refers to the sample during sustained attention.

If the frequency of comparisons diminishes, estimate the time when they started making fewer glances to the sample.

Tiles

Place all the tiles on the opposite side of the frame to the sample design. Do not sort colours or reduce the number of tiles provided.

Spacing

Spatial fit means the ability to perceive a 3-dimensional object and how it fits in with surrounding objects. Accurate spacing doesn't enter the scale until ACL 5.4. You may see attempts to "solve the gap" by spacing the tiles as low as ACL 4.4. This does not affect the scoring criteria. Use other activities and your observations of the person functioning to establish a pattern of performance.

Support

Hold the frame still if needed.
