Within ACL 5 High, the person is better equipped to complete laundry tasks on their own.
If familiar with completing the laundry task, the person will be able to carry this out independently. They will avoid overloading the washing machine. They will recognise stains and be able to deal with these using their preferred methods. They can follow verbal and written instructions to use new appliances within reason.
They will remember to complete washing tasks when required within reason and remember when clean clothing supplies are running low.
Abstract concepts such as the effects of heat on washing items may not be noted. Train the person to read and follow care labels to avoid unwanted secondary effects.
Carers will also need to identify proper storage and handling of toxic cleaning agents.
Dryers
Within ACL 5.6, they are more able to recognise the secondary effects of heat on different fabric types and will need less reminders to check labels for cleaning instructions. Within ACL 5.8, they now understand the secondary consequences of overloading a washing machine or dryer and will not require reminders to avoid such errors. Better information retrieval results in the person being able to remember to clean the lint trap after each dryer use to prevent a fire.
