The Person

Aside from Gestalt psychology, the formation of the sense of being an individual has been largely ignored in psychology. Within ACL 4.0, the person is definitely with us, but their presence is filled with stereotypes.

Social Stereotypes

Categories of people bring prejudices about group membership, with negative attitudes toward outsiders. The elementary awareness brings a universal response to verbal conflict between groups that include ritualized fighting, dehumanizing, belittling, accusing or laughing at others. These verbal stereotypes are common problems in groups of cognitively disabled people, entering the scale within ACL 4.0.

All cultures have taboos for rape, murder, violence, copulation, and relieving self in public. Attention to these taboos enters the scale here too.

On the more pleasant side, they are aware of the typical times for eating, feasting, showing hospitality to others, greeting people and the customary day / night rhythms to daily life.

Language

The value of the quality of information becomes very apparent in the jump in language that enters the scale within ACL 4.0. Verbal communication includes remembering current and past activities. They use names for classifying members of family, kin, and generations in the close-knit group. Objects are classified and compared as being the same, equal, or the opposite (high / low, good / bad).

Possessions have meaning as they are classified as mine with universal rules. One can give or share possessions; the owner has the right to use the object first and shares only when possession is acknowledged.

Their language differentiates between man-made and natural objects.

Directions

The classification of an activity makes it possible for them to self-generate verbal directions for the next step in a familiar task. They can give a simple answer to the "What's next?" question when the task is routine. Because they are goal-directed, they can ask another person for assistance.

Therapists are acknowledged as the authority. The universal rules are a show of obedience to authority or a verbal defense of self, "I like it like that."
