Being Out of Bed

By Anonymous (not verified), 5 March, 2025

People functioning within ACL 1.4 display a basic human need to get out of bed several times a day.

The need to get out of bed plus the need to do something with external cues while sitting up in bed becomes apparent when the opportunities are not produced. Agitation is persistent for hours when opportunities are unavailable. Human beings need to get up and do something positive.

An unintended experiment is being conducted with millions of people functioning within ACL 1.4. When their daily life consists of lying in bed all day with nothing to do except to be gotten up and feed, troublesome behavior and over sedation are the result. Troublesome behaviors can be prevented with additional sensations and tracking.

Physical and / or mental stamina seldom lasts longer than a few minutes, but the time matters to the person. A regular schedule needs to be established with data that establishes the minimum to prevent troublesome behavior.

The person also needs something to do while in bed, which is easier for family and friends because a transfer is not required. Sensory stimulation supplies and a visitor's book can be left in plain sight at bedside.

To demonstrate cost-effectiveness, studies can compare current care to scheduled seating and sensory tracking sessions.
