To Verify
To verify the ability to evaluate experiences as being either positive or negative, select at least one cue from each of the five senses. Verification requires at least three positive experiences and at least two negative experiences. The report of a verified ACL 1.2 should include the verification standard, the cues you selected and the expressions you observed. The ACLS-6 provides an initial estimate, but further verification at another time of day is recommended.
When the verification standard cannot be met, report the mode as unverifiable. The report of an unverifiable ACL 1.2 should also include the verification standard, the cues you selected and the expressions you observed.
To Rule Out
To rule out ACL 1.4, provide moving cues to an unimpaired sensation. If their attention does not follow the moving cue you have confirmed that they are functioning within ACL 1.2.
