Sensory Information

Information from the person's senses can be used to make improvements. Taste is often associated with cooking activities. There are numerous recipes the person can trial. If cooking is a new activity for the person, a demonstration is required for them to learn how to do this new task. Step by step instructions are helpful. If the person lives alone or comes from a small family unit or is cooking alone, someone else will need to help them to adjust the recipe to cook smaller quantities, otherwise freeze any leftovers, if possible. Freezing single serve quantities is another option.

The sense of smell is another powerful sensory information. There are sometimes community workshops on perfume making. There are also internet interest groups that they may like to be involved with.

The person's sense of sight will appreciate art activities like painting, stenciling and stamping. There are lots of options for making improvements using someone's sense of sight. Try downloading our coloring activities for the person to use.
