Role Classifications

The universal need to classify people into we / they groups is evident. The classifications tend to reflect local norms based on cultural, ethnic and racial stereotypes. Social conventions to be politically correct are often disregarded or followed inflexibly.

Whereabouts

To let family and friends know about changes in their whereabouts is a social norm that is assumed that every adult understands and has a right to make a choice about.

Loved ones are recognized by appearance but awareness of worrying about their whereabouts when the person is out of sight or in a different geographic location is not apt to be understood. They are apt to be contacted when financial support is needed, but contact is apt to be rejected when conflicts about independence and sense of self exist.
