Various simple activities are used to see if the person is able to classify or group actions into goal-directed activities.
To Verify
Can the person identify a goal-directed activity? Is there a beginning, middle and end steps for doing activities? Is there a purpose to what they are doing?
When presented with the stitching activity, and asked, "Please make three stitches" the person stops at three stitches. The striking feature of a set of numbers makes sense to them.
In Design A of the copying activity, the person is able to pay attention to the striking feature of linear information. The red and blue tiles are used to form lines. This sense of matching to form a line is not seen when they are functioning below ACL 4.
When presented with the flower pot design, they will make something where the flower is clustered above the pot.
When completing the clover or the kite design, they will make something that looks like the sample but they have not tucked the yellow rhomboids under the corner pieces.
To Rule Out
Does the person have access to their working memory, thus enabling them to partially tuck an object behind another object? When completing the clover or kite design, does the person easily tuck all the yellow rhomboid shapes behind the corner pieces?
