Within ACL 3 Low, the person forms a sense of interest in the effects that their actions cause. Their interest is what holds their attention. When their interest fades away, they need a new action or a different material object.

A sense of causing effects may be connected to the person getting into everything in sight. This increases their risk of falls, wandering, getting lost and irregular sleeping. When caregivers try to keep the person safe by restricting where they can go this may result in the person screaming or striking out. The person's want to cause effects may also result in them having inadequate nutrition and hydration. Bite size finger foods and ice blocks which they can pick up and consume may be a solution to this problem.

The concept of a line makes sense to the person when they apply the idea to see the effects that an object makes during a back and forth motion (scribbling) or when placing similar objects in a row.

The concept of a line has limited effects with organizing their actions. They do not pay attention to coloring within a line or placing objects along the edges until they function in ACL 3 High.
