Personal preferences can be detected when the cues are strong and obvious. Family members usually know what their likes and dislikes are and appreciate maintaining the person's sense of identity and their contact with them. When family member assistance is unavailable, the ACL profiles and modes suggest typical cues that are apt to arouse their attention and reinforce their identity.
