If abstract information is used for work skills, the loss in the ability to process abstract information maybe profound.

People with a recent onset and a prior history that indicates functioning within ACL 6 often have a sense that their cognitive ability has been reduced. The realisation may not last long and usually occurs when they compare what they just did with what they have done in the past that had very similar content. Incorporating the realisation into changing their life goals often has fuzzy comprehension.

Information from the person's senses can be used to make improvements. Taste is often associated with cooking activities. There are numerous recipes the person can trial. If cooking is a new activity for the person, a demonstration is required for them to learn how to do this new task. Step by step instructions are helpful. If the person lives alone or comes from a small family unit or is cooking alone, someone else will need to help them to adjust the recipe to cook smaller quantities, otherwise freeze any leftovers, if possible. Freezing single serve quantities is another option.
